American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy's California Division Elects Dr. Sherri Muchnick of Capella University to Board; Dr. Ron Muchnick, also of Capella University, to Serve on AAMFT-California's Election Committee.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Two Capella University faculty members have been elected to posts with the California division of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT-CA), a professional association for the field of marriage and family therapy. Capella University is a pioneer in online education that serves more than 14,500 undergraduate, master's and PhD online degree students.

Sherri Muchnick, PhD, a core faculty member with Capella's School of Human Service's counselor education program, was elected to the board of AAMFT-CA. Ron Muchnick, PhD, also a core faculty member with the accredited(a) online university's counselor education program, was selected to serve on AAMFT-CA's election committee.

AAMFT-CA represents more than 3,300 licensed professional marriage and family therapists in California who uphold the high training and practice standards of the organization's international professional association, AAMFT.

Capella University was the first online university to receive accreditation for two master's degree specializations in counseling from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Capella's mental health counseling specialization received accreditation in 2003, and the marital, couple and family therapy specialization in 2005.
