Nation's Largest Dispute Resolution Organization to Expand Services

The American Arbitration Association The American Arbitration Association (AAA) is a private enterprise in the business of arbitration, and one of several arbitration organizations that administers arbitration proceedings. ) announced today the creation of its new Northeast Case Management Center, which will be located in Providence, RI.

The establishment of the Northeast Case Management Center is part of the organization's ongoing effort to upgrade and expand its services through the qualitative enhancement of case administration in a number of nationwide facilities.

This is the fourth case management center to be opened by the AAA in the last four years. The organization also opened centers in Dallas, TX in 1996; Atlanta, GA in 1997; and Fresno, CA in 2000.

The new Northeast Case Management Center in Providence, RI will administer all commercial and construction cases that originate in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire New Hampshire, one of the New England states of the NE United States. Under the direction of the local vice president or regional manager, each region will continue to provide hearing room facilities and be responsible for the recruitment and oversight of the regional panel of arbitrators and mediators. The region will also continue to be responsible for education and training, ADR ADR - Astra Digital Radio  systems design, and other assistance to the local legal and business communities.

Labor cases will continue to be administered in Boston, Hartford, New York City, Philadelphia, Somerset, Southfield, Syracuse, and White Plains. The Northeast Case Management Center, scheduled to open in Summer 2001, will employ approximately 150 staff members, adding more than three dozen new positions to the AAA's Northeast operations. The facility also will include a new Mass Claims Center.

"The new center reflects the widening interest in and use of dispute resolution services - particularly at a time when all parties are concerned about savings in time and cost."

It is anticipated that the new Northeast Case Management Center will administer approximately 10,000 arbitrations annually. The American Arbitration Association plans to lease 40,000 square feet of office space in Providence.
