American Airlines Opens New Global Priority Shipping Center at DFW International Airport; New State-of-the-Art Facility to Centralize Acceptance and Handling of AA Priority Parcel Service Shipments.

FORT WORTH, Texas -- American Airlines Cargo has opened its new AA Global Priority Shipping Center strategically centered in the middle of all three American passenger terminal operations at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The new 14,400-square-foot facility brings a whole new level of convenience to businesses and individuals wishing to send a Priority Parcel Service(SM) (PPS) package via the next available flight. The convenient mid-field location with entrance via the access road allows customers to avoid toll costs and parking challenges.

The new facility will centralize handling of Priority Parcel Service shipments for American into one location at DFW, further enhancing consistency of service and security standards. The design of the facility is based on input from American's customers and employees, and offers unique features that will set a new standard in service among airlines in serving their customers' same day shipping needs.

The facility features a one-of-a-kind "drive-through" door for single package or pet kennel pick-up, allowing drivers to never have to leave their vehicles for small shipment pick-up. Animals are immediately checked into the climate controlled live animal care center for maximum comfort. A 30-minute shipment tender prior to flight departure and recovery commitment after flight arrival provides the fastest transit time at the AA Global Priority Shipping Center.

"Our customers and airline partners will find this to be the most convenient and efficient express shipping facility in the world," said Dave Brooks, president of American Airlines Cargo. "It is truly a tremendous step forward in next-flight-out shipping convenience and customer service quality. We are especially proud that our customers and employees provided significant input toward the design of this unique facility."

Other features of the facility include enhanced safety and security systems. A new security system records all areas of the facility 24 hours a day and security guards monitor access points to the airport. Customers have the convenience of 52 exclusive close-in parking spots, a spacious customer service area to ensure fastest possible transaction time and a customer "comfort zone" designed for long-distance travelers and early arrivals. The three safety-enhanced dock doors and drive-up ramps ensure no congestion for larger vehicles in that area.

The Global Priority Shipping Center at DFW is open from 4:30 a.m. - 1:30 a.m. 365 days a year, and serves 250 cities in 85 countries throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, and North and South America. Joint express products with Qantas and Alaska Airlines add Australia, New Zealand, Alaska and the Pacific Northwest to the Priority Parcel Service network. Future plans include adding product handling from other airlines in the oneworld family in this operation.

The new Global Priority Shipping Center was designed to process up to 450,000 shipments annually, more than double the current facility's package volume. Dedicated facilities for handling Priority Parcel Service are available in eight major airports in the American Airlines system, including Chicago O'Hare, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, New York Kennedy, New York LaGuardia, St. Louis and San Juan.
