American Airlines Executive Elected to Board of Directors of LA INC. The Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Major U.S. airline. American was created through a merger of several smaller U.S. airlines and incorporated in 1934. It continued to buy the routes of other airlines, becoming an international carrier in the 1970s; its routes include South America, the
 executive Cathy Bradley Berg to the LA INC. Board of Directors. Berg, Managing Director of Passenger Sales, Western Division and Canada, for American Airlines, will assume the board position, effective immediately. Berg, who is based in Los Angeles, was elected at LA INC.'s recent meeting of the Board Oct. 7, and will serve a term which includes the remainder of the current fiscal year ending June 30, 2005, and two successive one-year terms, ending June 30, 2007. She joins a 21-member volunteer board comprised of local business and community leaders responsible for the strategic direction of the Convention and Visitors Bureau.

"American Airlines has been an important partner in the Bureau's domestic and international marketing," said Irene Hirano, Chairman of LA INC. and President and Chief Executive Officer of the Japanese American National Museum The Japanese American National Museum opened its doors in 1992. The museum is located in the Little Tokyo area near downtown Los Angeles, California. It is devoted to preserving the history and culture of Japanese Americans. . "Most recently, with Cathy's leadership, American Airlines has further expanded its participation in the Bureau's work. As an accomplished airline executive, Cathy will provide invaluable expertise to the Board and we are delighted and honored to have her join us."

Cathy Bradley Berg has served as American Airlines Managing Director of Passenger Sales for the Western Division and Canada since March 2004. In her role, she oversees an agency and corporate sales team in a 14-state region covering the West Coast, Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, Alaska and Canada. Previously, Berg was American's Managing Director of Premium Services. She was responsible for overseeing the airline's 43 Admirals Clubs, Flagship Lounges, Executive Centers, and other services for premium customers. She has been with American Airlines since 1979.

Berg is a graduate of the University of Texas. She serves as Chairman of Flagship Charities, American Airlines' local fundraiser benefiting Los Angeles children's charities. In addition, she is affiliated with the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and serves as Event Vice Chair for the Dream Halloween Event benefiting the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation The Children Affected by AIDS Foundation (CAAF) is the global nonprofit foundation devoted to providing social, educational, recreation and other critical support programs to children impacted by HIV/AIDS. .

Cathy is a native of the Dallas-Forth Worth area, and resides with her family in Manhattan Beach Manhattan Beach, city (1990 pop. 32,063), Los Angeles co., S Calif., on Santa Monica Bay; inc. 1912. It is a residential and beach community with an oil refinery and nearby factories that produce transportation and electrical equipment, computers, and pottery. , Calif.
