AMERICAN aGRICULTURAL INSURANCE CO. has appointed JANET S. KATZ as the company's new executive vice president and chief executive officer. Katz succeeds VIRGIL APPLEQUlST, who announced his retirement in May. Applequist served nearly 32 years with AAIC, the past 18 years as general manager/ executive vice president/CEO.

Katz is a 20-year veteran of AAIC who joined the actuarial department of the company in 1989. During her time at AAIC, Katz has held numerous positions with the company and was promoted to senior vice president and chief operating officer in 2007.
