America West, Talus Sign Letter of Intent for New Revenue Management System.


ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 16, 1998--America West Airlines and Talus talus (tā`ləs), deposit of rock fragments detached from cliffs or mountain slopes by weathering and piled up at their bases. A talus is a common geologic feature in regions of high cliffs. , the world leader in the application of Revenue Management solutions, announced that they had signed a letter of intent to install a state-of-the-art Talus AirlineRMS Revenue Management system for the airline.

The system will enable the carrier to forecast its origin and destination demand in order to arrive at the optimal mix of price and availability to better serve America West's customers and maintain profitable growth. The system uses Talus' proprietary modular design In the context of systems engineering, modular design — or "modularity in design" — is an approach aiming to subdivide a system into smaller parts (modules) that can be independently created and then used in different systems to drive multiple functionalities. , which is based on its unique Customized Component Technology. The companies plan for the new system to be implemented over the next year and expect it to increase America West's incremental revenues by 1 to 2 percent annually upon implementation.
