America Online partners with iVillage, an independent programming and marketing studio.NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 28, 1995--Media veterans Candice Carpenter and Nancy Evans announced this week that America Online See AOL. has made a minority investment in iVillage, their recently launched new media studio. In a partnership arrangement that represents a strategic initiative for America Online, iVillage will be the first independent studio to develop multiple-branded channels for distribution on America Online, the World Wide Web and other on-line services, and on evolving distribution platforms such as cable modem. Unlike AOL's "Greenhouse" program which makes investments in specific programming projects, the company's investment in iVillage represents its first major support for an independent programming and marketing company. The first of five planned channels from iVillage, titled Parent Soup, will debut on America Online and the World Wide Web in January 1996.
