Business Editors/Hi-Tech Writers

DULLES, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 30, 2000

America Online, Inc. (NYSE:AOL Lots of AOL Discs
Perhaps the largest CD-ROM marketing campaign ever. For years, AOL has distributed millions of sign-up discs to almost every venue imaginable.
), the world's leading interactive services company, today announced the availability of AOL Mobile Communicator See Netscape Communicator.(SM), a new two-way paging device designed for easy access to the popular AOL instant messaging and e-mail services. Beginning today, the small, lightweight devices are available online to AOL's members who are making the interactive medium, and in particular AOL, increasingly central to their everyday lives.

Today's announcement marks the next step in the "AOL Anywhere"(SM) multi-platform strategy to extend the benefits of the Company's industry-leading brands as well as its popular features and services to members anywhere, anytime - on emerging interactive platforms beyond the PC. With AOL members spending more than an hour online each day, the AOL Mobile Communicator helps provide them with another way to be connected whenever and wherever they are.

"Our 'AOL Anywhere' strategy looks to increase the value and convenience we deliver to AOL members by providing integrated, easy access to all their favorite features anywhere, anytime," said Dennis Patrick, President of AOL Wireless. "We listen to our members. They want mobile, anywhere access to e-mail and instant messaging with that all-important Buddy List feature.

"That's what we deliver with the AOL Mobile Communicator," Patrick continued. "We're no longer talking about an AOL Anywhere strategy - we're making AOL Anywhere a reality."

Each day AOL members send up to 656 million instant messages and 150 million e-mails. Now with the AOL Mobile Communicator device, AOL's members can have access to their e-mail as well as constant communication with other AOL members and the tens of millions of users of the AOL Instant Messenger(SM) service. AOL members can stay in close touch with those who matter to them most, whether they are co-workers, family or friends.

The AOL Mobile Communicator device introduces a new level of convenience for AOL members to stay in touch with friends, family and colleagues. Weighing in at just 4.1 ounces, the AOL Mobile Communicator device easily fits into a purse, backpack or briefcase and can even be worn on the hip. A built-in mini-keyboard makes it quick and easy to type instant messages and read, write or reply to e-mail.

To access AOL instant messaging and e-mail services, AOL members simply sign on to the AOL Mobile Communicator device with their AOL screen name - there's no pager number to remember. In addition, AOL Mobile Communicator offers special, user-selected safety controls, including the ability to set an additional password that is different from the one they use when they access the AOL service from their computer. Parents also can use AOL's Parental Controls to enjoy the comfort of staying in constant touch with their children, while also limiting some of the access their children or teens have on their mobile messaging devices.

The AOL Mobile Communicator device is available today and can be purchased online at AOL Keyword: AOL Mobile Communicator for $329.95. The AOL Mobile Communicator service is available for a subscription fee of $19.95 per month.
