America Online Names Leonard Short Executive Vice President, Brand Marketing.

America Online See AOL. , Inc., the world's leading interactive services company, today announced that it has appointed Leonard Short, formerly Executive Vice President, Advertising and Brand Management at Charles Schwab Charles Schwab can refer to:
  • Charles M. Schwab, founder of Bethlehem Steel.
  • Charles R. Schwab, founder of the brokerage.
  • Charles Schwab Corporation, the brokerage.
 & Company, Inc., as Executive Vice President, Brand Marketing.

Reporting to AOL (A division of Time Warner, Inc., New York, NY, www.aol.com) The world's largest online information service with access to the Internet, e-mail, chat rooms and a variety of databases and services.  President of Marketing Joe Redling, Mr. Short will oversee AOL's domestic and international brand marketing efforts, including brand advertising and media, promotional marketing and overall brand management.

At Charles Schwab, Mr. Short was responsible for business development marketing, brand development, advertising, account and new asset acquisition as well as graphic and production services. He oversaw the launch of Schwab's Mutual Fund OneSource and Schwab.com which resulted in Schwab becoming the world's leading marketer of mutual funds as well as the world's leading online broker.

In announcing Mr. Short's appointment, Mr. Redling said, "Len Short is a very talented and innovative marketer who brings to AOL years of experience building and maintaining powerful brands. Prior to his position with Charles Schwab & Company, Mr. Short was the President of Worldwide 1 on 1, a New York-based direct marketing and consumer relationship marketing agency whose clients included GE Capital, MCI (1) (Media Control Interface) A high-level programming interface from Microsoft and IBM for controlling multimedia devices. It provides commands and functions to open, play and close the device.

, Citibank, Chrysler and Marriott Hotels and Resorts. With Worldwide 1 on 1, Mr. Short created and launched MCI's Friends and Family program which was recognized as Product of the Year by the American Marketing Association The American Marketing Association, one of the largest professional associations for marketers, has 38,000 members worldwide in every area of marketing. For over six decades the AMA has been the leading source for information, knowledge sharing and development in the marketing profession. .

Mr. Short is a twenty year veteran of the advertising and marketing industries. He received a BS from Boston University Boston University, at Boston, Mass.; coeducational; founded 1839, chartered 1869, first baccalaureate granted 1871. It is composed of 16 schools and colleges.  in 1982.
