America Online Names Gregory S. Horton Executive Vice President, Human Resources.

DULLES, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 13, 2002

America Online See AOL. , Inc., the world's leading interactive services company, today announced that it has appointed Gregory S. Horton as Executive Vice President, Human Resources The fancy word for "people." The human resources department within an organization, years ago known as the "personnel department," manages the administrative aspects of the employees. . Horton will report to AOL (A division of Time Warner, Inc., New York, NY, www.aol.com) The world's largest online information service with access to the Internet, e-mail, chat rooms and a variety of databases and services.  Vice Chairman Joseph Ripp.

Mr. Horton will oversee the Human Resources team at AOL, leading all aspects of HR, from talent acquisition to organizational development to leadership, in addition to managing the company's facilities in more than twenty states and nearly two dozen countries.

Previously, Mr. Horton was Vice President of Human Resources for Qwest Communications' worldwide operations, managing 82 HR professionals and covering more than 54,000 employees. Mr. Horton brings to AOL more than 13 years experience in Human Resources, working for Autonation USA and Pepsi-Cola Company, before joining Qwest in 2001.

At Qwest, Mr. Horton strengthened the HR team and more closely aligned HR with the company's business objectives. As Vice President of Human Resources at Autonation USA, from spring 1999 to fall 2001, Horton upgraded the HR group, designing and implementing several new management development initiatives and developing the company's Diversity Program. Previously, Mr. Horton worked for Pepsi-Cola Company for 10 years, serving in a number of senior Human Resources positions.
