America Online Launches AOL E-mail And AOL Instant Messenger Service For AT&T Wireless mMODE.

America Online See AOL. , Inc., the world's leading interactive services company, announced today the availability of AOL (A division of Time Warner, Inc., New York, NY, www.aol.com) The world's largest online information service with access to the Internet, e-mail, chat rooms and a variety of databases and services.  Mail and the AOL(R) Instant Messenger AOL's instant messaging service. See AIM and instant messaging. (TM) (AIM(R)) service for subscribers of AT&T Wireless new mMode(SM). By providing easy access to AOL Mail and instant messaging Exchanging text messages in real time between two or more people logged into a particular instant messaging (IM) service. Instant messaging is more interactive than e-mail because messages are sent immediately, whereas e-mail messages can be queued up in a mail server for seconds or  from mMode capable wireless phones, wireless consumers can communicate and stay informed whenever they are in mMode.

With wireless access to AOL Mail, AOL members have the ability to retrieve and respond to e-mail from their mMode capable phone. In addition, AOL members can use their mMode phone to access information found in their AOL Address Book, allowing them to easily address e-mails, look up contact information and add new contacts.

The AIM service is used by millions of Internet users every day to communicate in real-time with friends and family. Instant messaging has become an online phenomenon, and now, mMode customers can access their AOL Buddy List(R) feature and "chat" with family and friends by typing short text messages on their wireless phones. Customers also have the added convenience of knowing that their messages are being received and read virtually in real-time as well as "chatting without talking" when discretion during a personal conversation is needed.
