America Online Celebrates The 20th Anniversary Re-Release Of E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.

Groundbreaking "E.T. Owns Home" Event to Feature E.T. and Elliott

In celebration of the much-anticipated 20th anniversary re-release of Steven Spielberg's E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, America Online See AOL.  has joined forces with Universal Pictures for an innovative online event called "E.T. Owns Home." Today, the famous image of E.T. and Elliot on a bicycle will fly across the Welcome Screens of Moviefone.com, AOL(R) Instant Messenger AOL's instant messaging service. See AIM and instant messaging. (TM) (AIM(R)), People.com, EW.com and AOL's Kids Only Channel each time people log on.

Then, on March 22--the day the film arrives in theaters--E.T. and Elliott will appear again on these properties, as well as the Welcome Screens of America Online, Netscape and CompuServe, throughout the day. This marks the first time that an animated image has ever moved across the AOL Welcome Screen.

In addition to the "E.T. Owns Home" event, AOL members and online consumers who want to re-live the magic of E.T. can access the following:
- At AOL Keyword: E.T. and on Moviefone.com, members can access the official
E.T. movie site, create E.T. fan pages, download screensavers and a printable
E.T. movie kit, remember the era when the film was first released with a
nostalgic look back at the 1980s, and much more. Plus, on Moviefone.com, users
can find theater locations and showtimes for the film, purchase tickets and
watch the trailer.

- On AOL's Kids Only Channel, kids have their very own place to learn about the
film at AOL Keyword: KO E.T. This special destination introduces kids to the
wonder of E.T. with polls, quizzes and downloads created with young moviegoers
in mind.

- On Netscape and CompuServe, fans can create their own E.T. fan pages with the
fun and easy-to-use templates available on Netscape's My Webpages and
CompuServe's Our World Webpage building services.

- On AIM, fans can test their skills at getting Elliot's bike off the ground in
a special game. AIM users can also enjoy special E.T. Buddy Icons, an E.T.
Photo Gallery and an "invite a friend" feature allowing AIM users to instantly
invite friends to see the movie.
