AOL's Online Photo Service Offers a One-Stop Solution for

Printing, Sharing, Storing, Organizing and Accessing Pictures

AOL(R) Member Participation in You've Got Pictures(R) Service Surges

Alongside Booming Digital Camera Market and Broadband Adoption

America Online, Inc., the world's leading interactive services company, today announced the addition of a new Home Printing feature to the You've Got Pictures(R) online photo service. Powered by printing technology from HP, the Home Printing feature lets AOL(R) and AOL(R) for Broadband members and other Internet users easily print favorite photos in the convenience of their own home directly from the You've Got Pictures service. The You've Got Pictures service allows millions of consumers to save time on what was once a multi-stepped process by delivering a one-stop solution for sharing, printing, organizing and storing their photo memories.

The new feature comes at a time when an increasing number of AOL members and other digital camera owners are opting to print their pictures at home. AOL announced today the results of the "You've Got Pictures Online Photo Survey 2004," which found that approximately 70% of those surveyed use a home printer to print their pictures. (See accompanying press release: "America Online's Digital Pictures Survey Finds that Instant Gratification Factor Tops List of What Consumers Love Most About Digital Photography.")

According to industry research, 2003 was the first year in which digital cameras outsold traditional cameras. AOL has seen a corresponding surge in member interest in digital photography alongside this booming digital camera market. Since the introduction of the integrated Picture Finder and other digital media features in AOL(R) 9.0 Optimized last fall, You've Got Pictures usage has tripled and more than six million new photo albums have been created. Likewise, the increase in broadband usage has also fostered member participation in digital photography activities, particularly ones that are well suited for high-speed Internet connections. For example, picture sharing is one of the most popular activities among AOL for Broadband users. Opportunities to share images are weaved throughout the service, such as through AOL(R) Mail, Instant Messenger(TM), Member Directory profiles, as well as AOL(R) Journals for photo blogs.

"With 99% of the images managed on the You've Got Pictures service originating from digital cameras(1), they have quickly become the preferred way for our members to capture life's favorite moments, and we are excited to expand our online photo service with easy home printing capabilities, a top request from our members," said Jeff Hooker, Director of the You've Got Pictures service at America Online. "The You've Got Pictures service is an incredibly popular part of the AOL service because members can access and share their photos the way they want. Features like Home Printing reflect how we are continually enhancing the service to keep in step with our members' evolving interests and developing innovative solutions to deliver the best options for enjoying digital photography."

Highlights of the new Home Printing feature include:

- The ability to print various sizes from 2-1/2 x 3-1/4 wallet size to popular 4 x 6 to as large as 8 x 10 full-page prints.

- The ability to preview print layouts of different picture sizes before printing.

- To avoid paper waste, a quality resolution notification advises users if the resolution of a picture is too low and will result in a lower quality print.

The new Home Printing feature builds upon the service's full-featured offerings which provide AOL's 24 million members with easy-to-use options for storing, organizing, printing, accessing and sharing their photos online. The You've Got Pictures service features a broad range of easy-to-use digital photos solutions including unlimited photo storage, the ability to create online photo albums and share them with anyone on the Internet, the ability to access photos anytime, anywhere through the Web site, order Kodak(R) prints and photo gifts, design a personal screensaver, create a slide show, construct a personal profile, perform simple photo editing and more. With more than 125 million photos stored on the service and approximately one million uploaded each week, the You've Got Pictures service has evolved into a comprehensive online service tailored for the digital camera owner.

Mr. Hooker added, "We're a visual society and the You've Got Pictures service helps our members create their own great photography and makes it easier for them to share and talk about their photos. Whether members are instant messaging a photo to someone on their Buddy List(R) window, organizing all of their photos and albums in their 'virtual shoe box,' sharing a new image with friends on their AOL Journal, or printing out a set of vacation photos from their home printer, the You've Got Pictures service offers convenient and easy-to-use solutions that have helped AOL grow into one of the leading online photo services."

The You've Got Pictures service with the new Home Printing feature is available now at no additional charge to members of both the AOL and the AOL for Broadband services. Any Internet user who receives a picture album from an AOL member through the You've Got Pictures service can also utilize the Home Printing feature at no additional charge. The Home Printing feature works with any printer and does not require the user to install or download any additional software.
