THE largest democracy in the world has a new leader and the fashion world has a new icon.

Michelle Obama is being hailed the new Jackie O, a woman whose chic style never failed to impress.

So far we have seen the First Lady in a series of simply styled dresses, cut to flatter her curvy figure.

Her choice of daffodil yellow for the inauguration was a ray of sunshine on a crisp winter's day and flattered her complexion complexion /com·plex·ion/ (kom-plek´shun) the color and appearance of the skin of the face.

Of course, the two younger Obamas, who will grow up in the White House limelight, may also make their contribution to fashion trends as they transform into teenagers.

But it is Michelle (45) who has the eyes of everyone at the moment. And so far, she's more than living up to expectations in the fashion stakes.
