America's Car-Mart Expects to Exceed First Quarter Earnings Estimate; Company Announces Opening of New Dealerships.

BENTONVILLE, Ark.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 12, 2002

America's Car-Mart, Inc. (Nasdaq NMS See NetWare Management System. :CRMT CRMT Computer Resources Management Team ) today announced that in light of higher than expected retail sales and lower than expected credit losses in its first fiscal quarter ended July 31, 2002, the Company expects to exceed its earlier forecast of first quarter earnings from continuing operations continuing operations

Parts of a business that are expected to be maintained as an ongoing segment of an overall business operation. Income and losses from continuing operations are reported separately if any segments have been discontinued during the
 of $0.38 per diluted share. The Company expects to release its first quarter earnings during the second week of September 2002, and conduct a conference call in connection with the earnings release. The date and time of the conference call will be provided in a subsequent announcement.

The Company also announced that it has opened two new dealerships located in Duncan, Okla., and Forrest City Forrest City, city (1990 pop. 13,364), seat of St. Francis co., E central Ark., at the foot of Crowley's Ridge; inc. 1871. It is a rail and trade center in an agricultural (cotton, rice, vegetables, peaches) area. There is also diversified manufacturing. , Ark., which brings the total number of Car-Mart dealerships to 59. The opening of these new dealerships marks the addition of four new dealerships since the Company's current fiscal year began on May 1st. Further, the Company expects to open dealerships in Sherman, Texas Sherman is a city in Grayson County, Texas, United States. The population was 35,082 at the 2000 census. The population had increased to an estimated 37,623 in July 2006. It is the county seat of Grayson County. , and Malvern, Ark., within the next few weeks.

It was named as a result of General Nathan Bedford Forrest using the location as a campsite for a construction crew soon after the Civil War.  provides an ideal base of customers with stable jobs. Our existing presence and strong name recognition in eastern Arkansas should also benefit the Forrest City dealership. The Malvern, Arkansas Malvern is a city in Hot Spring County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 9,021 at the 2000 census. The city is the county seat of Hot Spring County.GR6 , dealership is another logical choice for us because it will assist the larger Benton dealership in collections while additionally serving the City of Malvern. Geographically, these dealerships all fall within existing management regions, and we look for them to contribute nicely in the coming months."
