America's Borders. (Letters to the editor).

I carefully read William Norman Grigg's immigration story ("Abolishing Our Borders," October 8th issue of TNA) with great interest. I have to assume that the story was written before the events of September 11th. Since then, the world has changed. No longer are the open borders that America has suffered from being denied, even by those who advocated them. In fact, the first thing President Bush did following the terror attacks in New York and Washington, D.C., was to seal both our borders against unneeded and dangerous immigration.

Mass immigration poses the longest term and most suicidal consequences of any movement that is going on at this time. In fact, even the "leaders" of mass immigration in Congress whose alliances lie outside the U.S., like Rep. Luis Gutierrrez, have kept quiet about their condoning of criminality as have corporate media who have allowed this condition to develop.

Illegal drugs finance terrorism and 86 percent of the illegal drugs that enter America come across the Mexican border. Not only have Congress and various presidential administrations been warned that our openness would be used against us, but terrorism expert Steve Emerson testified before Congress of the fallacy of our immigration process. His words fell largely on deaf ears. The best example of liberals who have turned 180 degrees can be found in the words of Rep. Robert Wexler of Florida: "It would be unforgivable if six months from now, or even three months from now, our immigration system were not changed." He also said that America's borders are way too "susceptible to infiltration."

Nothing the U.S. does means anything until we enforce the law and that includes deporting those who have broken our immigration laws.
