Trilogy, an Internet network marketing company, developed a method for consumers to own their own "turn-key" e-commerce business, including a personalized e-commerce site cross-linked to Trilogy's professionally developed and managed corporate site. Participants in Trilogy's programs avoid start-up costs involving inventory acquisition, order processing, shipping and customer service, all of which are provided by Trilogy. By stressing direct, inter-personal contact and competitive compensation, Trilogy's professionally developed training program encourages distributors to continuously increase their customer base and expand their sales force. That, in turn, materially reduces Trilogy's corporate advertising expenses and increases its profit margin. Trilogy's management expects that it will recover development expenses and attain ongoing profitability during the fiscal year ending June 30, 2001.
