Amerchol introduces SatinFX delivery system.

Amerchol, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company and its consolidated affiliates, has introduced a new, patent-pending encapsulation and delivery system. Known as SatinFX delivery system, this versatile, easy-to-use technology enables both hydrophobic and hydrophilic actives to be encapsulated in a variety of skincare products. Another example of Amerchol's strategy to bring new technologies to the personal care industry to fulfil the increasingly sophisticated demands of the consumer, SatinFX helps formulators to improve the stability and delivery of active ingredients, in response to the consumer demand for more effective, multifunctional skincare products.

"Improving the stability of sensitive actives such as Vitamin C is a critical need of many skin care formulators," said Denise Elias-Costrini, global marketing manager for Amerchol. "Our SatinFX delivery system provides enhanced stability over time, which helps to prevent oxidation of the actives and discolouration of the finished product." SatinFX also enables the encapsulation of "incompatible" ingredients to provide multiple performance benefits. For example, it can be used to encapsulate dihydroxyacetone (DHA) and amino acids to create sunless tanning products that also provide antiageing benefits. It can also be used to improve the aesthetic properties of many formulations, such as facial creams, eye gels and serums, and body lotions. "Some actives provide significant benefits to the skin, such as alpha hydroxy acids, but they can also be very irritating. By encapsulating these actives, the potential for skin irritation is reduced, which helps to provide a better experience for the consumer," commented Elias-Costrini (www.amerchol.com).
