), a leading producer of life insurance and annuity products, announced today that it will redeem all of its outstanding $185,000,000 aggregate principal amount Optionally Convertible Equity-Linked Accreting Notes (OCEANs) effective August 25, 2005.

Prior to the close of business on August 23, 2005, holders of OCEANs called for redemption may convert their OCEANs into cash and, subject to the redemption terms, shares of AmerUs Group common stock.
