Originally part of Cabletron Systems, and based on an early acquisition of YAGO, it was one of the many Gigabit Ethernet startups in the mid 1990's.  to pursue opportunities in the delivery of an integrated Ethernet solution to network providers.

Under the agreement, the two companies intend to perform an extensive set of interoperability tests to assure that Riverstone's core Ethernet switches seamlessly and effectively interconnect with Amedia's QoStream(TM) AS5000 Aggregator Switch and the QoStream PG1000 Premises Gateway to provide integrated end-to-end services with associated Quality of Services guarantees. Where commercially feasible, the two companies will work together to provision a comprehensive solution that enables carriers to deliver a vast range of IP voice, video and data services to residential and business end-users. Under those same circumstances, the two companies will also undertake joint marketing activities and joint sales efforts. Amedia anticipates that its initial QoStream products will become available for product testing and commercial release by December 31, 2004.

"We welcome Amedia as the newest member of Riverstone's Ethernet Edge Alliance Program," said Dave Ginsburg, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management, Riverstone Networks.
