Performance Data Manager, the A+OpenTune Performance Monitor and the A+OpenWatch Distributed Threshold Monitor are performance and capacity management software products targeted at Fortune 1000 systems administrators and datacenter managers who are attempting to solve sizing, capacity and performance issues on Tandem's S4000 systems.

These products are based on the Universal Measurement Architecture (UMA) specification, an emerging X/Open standard for handling performance and capacity data. The A+UMA Performance Data Manager is the Amdahl implementation of UMA, adding reliability, availability and serviceability Reliability, Availability and Serviceability is a computer hardware engineering term. It originated from IBM to advertise the robustness of their mainframe computers. The concept is often known by the acronym RAS.  features that enhance the integrity of the data collection and provide a robust solution to the management of business-critical performance data. "Our agreement with Tandem underscores the growing acceptance of the UMA specification as the de facto standard Hardware or software that is widely used, but not endorsed by a standards organization. Contrast with de jure standard.

"Amdahl took a leadership role in defining the standard because of our commitment to providing industry-leading system performance management solutions to our customers."

"Our S4000 product is an enterprise server aimed at the fault-tolerant requirements of the telecommunications marketplace. These performance management solutions will allow our customers' applications to run at top efficiency on our UNIX UNIX

platforms," said Larry Laurich, Tandem vice president and general manager, Communications Products Business Unit. "We believe that the Amdahl performance management software is a superior product and it is clear how it is well on its way to becoming an industry standard."

A+UMA Performance Data Manager

The A+UMA Performance Data Manager provides mainframe-style performance measurement tools for today's client/server environment. Unlike most performance products in the market today, this product offers a single collection and management tool that improves data synchronization and correlation. This product features data collection, distribution and management of close to 200 metrics, and enables UMA-based Measurement Application Programs (MAPS) to link to SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) A widely used network monitoring and control protocol. Data are passed from SNMP agents, which are hardware and/or software processes reporting activity in each network device (hub, router, bridge, etc.  network management systems.

A+OpenWatch Distributed Threshold Monitor

The A+OpenWatch Distributed Threshold Monitor allows simultaneous threshold monitoring with SNMP notification on over 100 servers running the A+UMA Performance Data Manager. It features user-defined thresholds for individual servers or a group of servers, visual and audible alarms to notify operator of exceptions, and integration with an SNMP network manager.

A+OpenTune Performance Monitor

The A+OpenTune Performance Monitor provides performance tuning and trend analysis across heterogeneous distributed environments based upon the data collected by A+UMA Performance Data Manager. This product features variable sampling intervals, a graphical display of both historical and current data, monitoring of the major system resources, and visibility to kernel processes.
