Amdahl to Integrate Siemens' U.S. Computer Server Business.

SAN JOSE. Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 22, 1999--

Amdahl Corporation and Siemens Information and Communication Products LLC have signed an agreement to integrate Siemens' U.S. Computer Systems business into Amdahl Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Ltd.

Amdahl will gain approximately 65 highly-skilled professional sales and marketing personnel with experience in mission-critical UNIX(R) and Windows NT(R) data environments, which complement its own sales and marketing staff. The company will also gain two highly-reliable product portfolios of Intel-architecture-based and Unix-based servers, and an attractive customer base.

By integrating Siemens Computer Systems' operations with Amdahl, the two companies preserve customers' investments in Siemens products and enhance customer migration alternatives through a broadened product portfolio. Amdahl will incorporate Siemens' current Primergy(R) and Reliant(R) products into its robust product portfolio, which includes mainframe systems, storage products, software and professional consulting services.

Through this agreement, Amdahl, Siemens and Fujitsu each achieve an expanded presence in the U.S. IT market, as well as improve the companies' abilities to serve global accounts worldwide. Siemens U.S. Information and Communications companies gain a strong IT partner and access to a more extensive product portfolio to support a broader customer base.

The integration of Siemens' U.S.-based Computer Systems business into Amdahl is a result of the global sales and marketing cooperation agreed to between Siemens AG and Fujitsu Ltd. earlier this year. Amdahl will be the designated Noth American sales, marketing and distribution channel of Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the joint venture company equally owned by Siemens AG and Fujitsu Ltd. The integration will begin immediately.

Siemens will continue to support its computer systems installed base and Fujitsu Siemens Computer products sold in the U.S. through its IT Service business, which is part of Siemens Information and Communication Products LLC.
