DRCC Solution Fulfills Highest German Legal Requirements

Amdahl, the IT Infrastructure specialist, has completed a further project for Commerzbank in Frankfurt carrying out the architectural design, implementation and software development for the automation of critical business management processes for the Investment Banking section. The Business Continuity solution DRCC (Disaster Recovery Control Computer) not only ensures the fastest, most effective and risk free, emergency system restart, but also can be used as a pre-production test bed environment and also controls switching procedures in the data center.

The new Business Continuity solution meets all legal and regulatory requirements such as Basel II, the federal association for credit (BAKred) and the minimum requirements for trading systems (MAH) and continues the high investment by Commerzbank over the last few years into the quality and security of its IT infrastructure within investment banking, ensuring continued optimization of its business processes. Commerzbank plans to market the software commercially as a solution for the management of Disaster Recovery processes.

As part of this project, Amdahl developed a complete disaster recovery data center at a second site. Besides developing the architecture to protect critical business processes, Amdahl also developed the software for the automation and control of the recovery process. A key benefit of this solution was to insulate and protect the IT infrastructure from frequently changing applications, minimizing maintenance and being less inclined to faults. Amdahl also acted as the project coordinator and system integrator between manufacturers such as Sun, EMC, Brocade, StorageTek and Veritas who provided hardware and software utilized in the data center.
