Business Editors/High Tech Writers

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 30, 2001

Services aimed at Storage Architecture, Business Continuity,

Backup and Restore and Storage Consolidation and Management resolve

today's critical information issues

Offerings reduce the complexity, risk and cost of planning,

deploying and operating an effective enterprise information

architecture

Amdahl IT Services, the IT infrastructure experts and a strategic member of the Fujitsu Group companies, today announced the launch of services created to provide high availability Also called "RAS" (reliability, availability, serviceability) or "fault resilient," it refers to a multiprocessing system that can quickly recover from a failure. There may be a minute or two of downtime while one system switches over to another, but processing will continue. , enterprise-wide storage solutions for business continuance and storage consolidation and management.

The new services utilize Amdahl's Adaptive Integration(TM) methodology and include consulting practices for information management across all storage platforms, plus software solutions that encompass intellectual property from Fujitsu and products from alliance partners, including Brocade, Fujitsu Softek, Microsoft, Sun, and VERITAS, all integrated into a comprehensive business information solution.

An addition to Amdahl's InfraCare(TM) service offerings, the services are being announced in conjunction with the availability of the Fujitsu(R) GR Storage Systems in North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere.  and Europe and combine to provide the most effective storage services and product solutions available. The services have been specifically designed to help enterprises with large, heterogeneous environments Using hardware and system software from different vendors. Organizations often use computers, operating systems and databases from a variety of vendors. Contrast with homogeneous environment.  move to a single, cost-effective storage architecture that delivers the right information, at the right time, at the right cost and with the right availability.

"Even in today's tough economy, industry estimates show that enterprise storage growth and costs continue to increase at extraordinary rates," said Larry Fillmer, president of Amdahl IT Services. "The solution is not to replace islands of server storage with islands of storage arrays; it is to implement a single information architecture that extends across the enterprise, regardless of server type, and supports the entire business operation."

"Storage is probably the most complex, expensive, and difficult to manage area in all of IT," said Steve Duplessie, Sr. Analyst, The Enterprise Storage Group, Inc. "Having a service provider the size of Amdahl, with a global reach, couldn't come at a better time."
