Amdahl Buys Sentryl's Storage Management Automation Assets.Amdahl (Amdahl Corporation, Sunnyvale, CA, www.amdahl.com) A computer manufacturer founded in 1970 by Dr. Gene Amdahl, chief architect of the IBM System/360. In 1975, Amdahl installed its first IBM-compatible mainframe, the 470/V6. Global Solutions, a division of US mainframe mainframe Digital computer designed for high-speed data processing with heavy use of input/output units such as large-capacity disks and printers. They have been used for such applications as payroll computations, accounting, business transactions, information retrieval, manufacturer Amdahl Corp, has acquired the key assets and intellectual property of Sentryl Software Corp, a supplier of automated au·to·mate v. au·to·mat·ed, au·to·mat·ing, au·to·mates v.tr. 1. To convert to automatic operation: automate a factory. 2. storage management packages, primarily in the major corporate market. The main asset acquired is Sentryl's Stars Application Management software, which optimizes the backup and application recovery processes. Amdahl has also acquired Sentryl's development, support and sales organization, plus distribution channels in 13 countries. Amdahl said Stars is a distributed package for the automation of storage management and application recovery which is compatible with all leading management and recovery packages. |
