Amdahl's Updated Strategic IT Road Map Reveals Aggressive Planning and Accelerated Performance.

Next generation of Millennium CMOS servers will approach 1,000 MIPS capacity

Amdahl Corporation today unveiled its updated road map for the Millennium(tm) family of CMOS servers, surpassing its strategic announcement of a year ago. In first quarter 1999, Amdahl will deliver the 800 Series, the next generation of Millennium servers, which will exceed original expectations with a capacity approaching 1,000 MIPS.

On June 9, 1997, Amdahl revealed capacity and delivery commitments for the next three generations of Millennium processors. This extended product vision was an unprecedented move by a large-systems manufacturer to enable customers with business-critical, large-systems applications to accurately plan an orderly growth path for System/390 processors. Amdahl's IT road map for data center strategy planning gives customers a path they can rely on to guide them into the 21st Century.
