Ambrex intersects gold, copper at Aripuana.

The cores were obtained from unweathered stratiform massive sulphide bodies in a meta-tuff sequence of the mid-Proterozoic Beneficiente group. DDH 05 is located near the Expedito pit. DDH 06 is located 500 meters on trend northwest of the Expedito mine, where a gold grade of 11.8 grams per tonne has been recorded by Ambrex's channel sampling.

This confirmation of extensive gold and copper mineralization at depth indicates that Aripuana contains a major gold and base metals resource. Ambrex previously reported significant lead-zinc mineralization with gold. The separation of gold, copper, lead and zinc identified in the sampling to date indicates the discovery of a large, polymetallic deposit consisting of a primary emplacement of base metals and a secondary enrichment by cross-cutting, gold-bearing structures. Ambrex is drillling a 6.2-kilometer strike length of confirmed mineralization. The company currently has three rigs on the project with a fourth rig planned.

Ambrex has also concluded the signing of a joint venture with Far West Gold of Vancouver, B.C., on its Virgem da Lapa gold properties in Minas Gerais state, Brazil. To earn 50 percent, Far West will carry out a reconnaissance sampling program over extensive garimpeiro workings dating from the 1730s, where more than 600,000 oz. of gold have been extracted by hand methods. The field is located in a highly prospective geological setting where Ambrex has developed a land position of over 34,000 hectares. Following positive sampling results, the joint venture will proceed with an aggressive exploration program in 1997.
