Sowers's low-key reading is convincing in its ordinariness; he does well with the variety of accents, carefully pronounces French words, and lightly changes his tone for the few females who appear. It is challenging to keep up with the transitions in the plot because of its globetrotting and flashbacks. No matter; the listener will persist to find out how it all unfolds.
