These energy conservation features let users access Ethernet LANs for high-speed file sharing Copying files from one computer to another. See peer-to-peer network, file sharing protocol and file and printer sharing. , e-mail, and web browsing without sacrificing their computer's battery life. The AMB8010 draws only 39 mA (milliamps) from the handheld PC compared to as much as 300mA from other Ethernet PC Cards.

"The power consumption of conventional Ethernet PC Cards coupled with the tiny batteries in handheld computers have prevented users of Windows CE from effectively using them to access their corporate networks," said Kenneth Cheng, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  at AmbiCom, Inc. Also called "hot plug" and "hot insertion," hot swap is a feature of USB devices, allowing an external drive, network adapter or other peripheral to be plugged in without having to power down the  support with any handheld PC running Windows CE V2.x. It is also interchangeable with both handheld and laptop PCs, and includes software drivers for Windows 95/OSR2, Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0. The credit card-sized AMB8010 simply snaps into a PC Card/PCMCIA Type II standard slot to synchronize with a corporate intranet at Ethernet speed.
