In so doing, the silicon atoms are stretched ("strained") to line up with the silicon germanium atoms, which are wider apart.  and other advanced material technologies, today announced that Dr. Zhi-Yuan (Charles) Cheng has been invited to present his paper "Strained-Si and Advanced Channel Materials On Insulator: Challenges and Opportunities" at the 8th International Conference on Solid-State and Integrated-Circuit Technology (ICSICT). This biennial conference is being held on October 23-26 in Shanghai, China. Dr. Cheng's presentation will be part of the "Mobility Enhancement Technology" session and includes a review of recent material technology advances; presenting a multiple set of approaches for future research in the area of heteroepitaxy on bulk silicon substrates.

Dr. Cheng holds the position of Director, Emerging Technologies with AmberWave Systems Corporation. Dr. Cheng has an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the National University in Singapore, and completed post-doctoral work in material science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Massachusetts Institute of Technology, at Cambridge; coeducational; chartered 1861, opened 1865 in Boston, moved 1916. It has long been recognized as an outstanding technological institute and its Sloan School of Management has notable programs in business,  (MIT MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology ). Dr. Cheng's research has contributed to 15 issued and pending patents in AmberWave's patent portfolio. Dr. Cheng was the 2005 winner of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York, www.ieee.org) A membership organization that includes engineers, scientists and students in electronics and allied fields.  Electron Devices Society's George E.
