Amber Networks today announced edgeSpan, the first suite of network service and element management applications designed to support Amber's Aggregation Service Routers. Combined with Amber's new ASR2000(TM) platform, edgeSpan allows service providers to rapidly create, provision, and monitor multiple services (TDM, frame relay, ATM, IP, etc.) on the Optical Internet.

Moreover, the suite's familiar and proven browser-based interface significantly reduces training needs and speeds time to deployment.

The edgeSpan suite lets service providers securely partition resources in a shared physical network. By being able to virtualize the network, service providers can offer their customers -- either end users or other service providers -- Extranet access for management of their own network services. Customers can also import partitioned information for use with their own billing, traffic engineering or capacity planning applications.

To ensure high availability, the edgeSpan suite can be deployed in a multi-tier clustered server environment that delivers the fault tolerance essential in a highly scalable, high transaction Optical Internet network.

Together with the ASR2000, edgeSpan will be available in the second half of the year.
