In the case of Kaylie, a driver with a cell phone spotted the pickup with Kaylie inside and tipped police that the suspect might be hiding out in a nearby house. The man who reportedly stole the vehicle said he didn't become aware of the child until he was a couple of blocks away from where he took the pickup.
