Ambassadors to meet Thai government over illegal immigration

The Thai government in recent days has defended itself against allegations that the Thai army left a group of ethnic Rohingya boat people to die on the open seas.

"The foreign ministry's permanent secretary will have a meeting with ambassadors from the five countries to Thailand this afternoon," a foreign ministry spokesman said.

"The meeting is mainly to discuss cooperation between the five countries to solve the problem of illegal immigration across the Andaman Sea Andaman Sea

) said Tuesday it had asked the Thai government for access to 126 of the refugees to assess their needs.
