Afghan Ambassador H.E. Ishaq Shahryar Ishaq Shahryar (born 1936) was the Afghan ambassador to the United States from 2002 to 2003.

Shahryar came to the United States in 1956 to study, worked as a solar engineer for aerospace companies, and later founded and ran two solar-energy companies in the Los Angeles area.

The ambassador will speak on current economic reconstruction Economic Reconstruction refers to a process for creating a proactive vision of economic change. The basic idea is that problems in the economy such as deindustrialization, environmental decay, outsourcing, industrial incompetence, poverty and addiction to a permanent war economy  efforts in Afghanistan. Ambassador Sharyar intends to use his experience as a high-tech inventor and seasoned entrepreneur to spearhead a movement of private sector development in his country.

"My role is to help Afghanistan enter the 21st century," said Ambassador Sharyar. "It's my mission to take my business skills and help revolutionize the Afghan economy."

Due to more than 23 years of conflict in Afghanistan, the nation's economy has suffered greatly. Sharyar believes that a radical new approach must be taken toward economic development, and he will highlight his plans for economic revitalization at the news conference.
