Paul Bremer Lewis Paul Bremer III (born September 30 1941), known as Paul Bremer and also nicknamed Jerry Bremer, was named Director of Reconstruction and Humanitarian Assistance for post-war Iraq following the Iraq War of 2003, replacing Jay Garner on May 6 2003.  III, former Presidential Envoy to Iraq, will address hundreds of business leaders at a San Diego Regional EDC EDC

Ambassador Bremer spearheaded the Coalition Provisional Authority The Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) سلطة الائتلاف الموحدة was established as a transitional government following the invasion of Iraq by the United States,  in building the new framework of Iraq from May 2003 to June 2004, when sovereignty was returned to Iraq. On December 14, 2004, President Bush awarded Bremer the Presidential Medal of Freedom Medal of Freedom

, the nation's highest civilian award, saying, "For 14 months Jerry Bremer worked day and night in difficult and dangerous conditions to stabilize the country, to help its people rebuild and to establish a political process that would lead to justice and liberty."

During his 23-year State Department career, Ambassador Bremer's assignments included service at the Embassies in Afghanistan and Malawi, and service as Deputy Chief of Mission at the American Embassy in Norway. In 1983, President Reagan named him Ambassador to the Netherlands. He is one of the world's leading experts on crisis management, terrorism and homeland security.

As defense operations in the Middle East continue, Ambassador Bremer will address various issues facing post-war Iraq and shed some light on what lies ahead in the fight against global terrorism.
