Amateur boxing; sport in brief.

WHILE Teesside basked in the weekend sun, boxers from increasingly busy Brambles Farm ABC won four bouts out of six on three separate shows at Newton Aycliffe, North Shields and Lambton Street in Sunderland. Junior fighter Marley Devitt got the Brambles Farm ball rolling as he earned a majority decision against North Road's Cameron Rennick at Aycliffe, where Asif Ishaque beat John Atkins on unanimous points in a rematch. Brothers Luke and Danny Loft were out of luck at North Shields as both suffered majority defeats, to Peter Imeson and Mark Thompson.

Lightweight Aaron Howdon has now won three in a row after getting stuck into Lambton Street's Connor Pearson in muggy conditions on the hosts' afternoon show on Wearside, winning a unanimous nod. * ELLIS Park and Tom McGarry were not hanging around as they handed East Middlesbrough ABC two stoppage wins on the Hartlepool Catholic Club show at Owton Manor Social Club.

Park was all action from the outset as he got his first win at the second attempt, stopping Ashington's Pete Chisholm in the second round following a trio of standing counts.

Featherweight McGarry has only had two bouts but is gaining a reputation as a quick finisher. He reeled off his second straight stoppage win by halting the Catholic Club's Michael Hogg with a nose injury in the first round.

Active East Middlesbrough flyweight Rob Bennett is now 6-0 after defeating D Bate on the Lambton Street show in Sunderland. Bennett will be the only East Middlesbrough senior boxer on the club's home show at Brambles Farm Social Club this Saturday, June 2, as schoolboys and juniors take centre stage in 14 bouts. Start time is 1pm.
