AmSouth Launches ``Do More Than Expected Week'' September 10 - 17, 2005; More Than 400 Events In Seven Days Mark State-Wide Effort.

) bankers across Tennessee will be doing during the bank's Do More Than Expected Week, Sept. 10 - 17, 2005.

AmSouth bankers throughout the Tennessee communities AmSouth serves will honor the commitment of the teachers, police, firefighters, military personnel, medical practitioners and others who do more than expected every day.

"Every September, AmSouth honors our employees and their commitment to AmSouth, our customers and the communities we serve. This year, we wanted to take that pride and share it with our communities," said Rusty Stephenson, AmSouth's Tennessee state executive. "One of our company's basic values is 'Do More Than Expected.' Doing more than expected is even more important now as disaster victims are welcomed into Tennessee and as businesses, services and agencies reach out to help."

AmSouth bankers will be taking to the streets - and to hospitals, fire stations, schools and more - to show their appreciation to those who give of themselves to make our communities better and safer - those who do more than expected. The special week culminates months of planning with special events planned across Tennessee and parts of northern Georgia.

Some of AmSouth's Do More Than Expected plans for the week include:

--In Nashville: Delivering gifts and hosting appreciation events at 42 fire stations and police precincts Noun 1. police precinct - a precinct in which law enforcement is the responsibility of particular police force
precinct - a district of a city or town marked out for administrative purposes
 in the area, including a children's event at the new Metro Police Department on Sept. 13.

--In Memphis: Partnering with local boy scouts to deliver gift baskets A gift basket, or fruit basket is typically a gift that is delivered to the recipient at their home or workplace. There are different varieties of gift baskets, some which have fruit only, some with dry/canned goods only (such as tea, crackers and jam) although the standard  to 25 fire stations on Saturday, Sept. 10.

--In Chattanooga: Celebrating Teacher Appreciation Day by delivering dessert trays to teachers at 27 Hamilton County Hamilton County is the name of a number of counties in the United States of America, named for Alexander Hamilton, first United States Secretary of the Treasury (except as indicated below):
  • Hamilton County, Florida
  • Hamilton County, Illinois
 elementary schools on Sept. 13. At each school, a gift certificate for school supplies will be awarded to a teacher.

--In Knoxville: Military and Patriotic Day - providing complimentary admission to the Tennessee Valley The Tennessee Valley is the drainage basin of the Tennessee River and is largely within the U.S. state of Tennessee. It stretches from southwest Kentucky to northwest Georgia and from northeast Mississippi to the mountains of Virginia and North Carolina.  Fair to all police, fire and military personnel on Sept. 13.

--In all AmSouth branches: accepting cash donations for the Red Cross and offering special products and waivers for victims of hurricane Katrina Editing of this page by unregistered or newly registered users is currently disabled due to vandalism. .

 random acts of kindness such as free coffee, free admission to local attractions, hosting customer appreciation cook outs, car washes and much more. In all, more than 1,400 AmSouth employees will participate in over 400 events over the course of the week.

In addition to random acts of kindness in the 48 counties in and around Tennessee and parts of northern Georgia, AmSouth employees plan to:

--Treat children to a day of discovery at local museums

--Cheer up children at local hospitals by delivering stuffed animals

--Cook and serve dinner at Ronald McDonald Houses

--Coordinate food, clothing and toy drives
