) announced today that its Board of Directors has declared a regular quarterly dividend of $.24 per common share, payable July 1, 2004, to shareholders of record as of June 17, 2004. AmSouth's dividend yield as of April 14, 2004, was 4.3 percent.

AmSouth holds Mergent's "Dividend Achiever" designation for its record of increasing dividends for 33 consecutive years.
