AmNet Mortgage, Inc. Banks on Hyperion for Profitability Management; Mortgage Banker Uses Hyperion Software to Gain Insight into Customer and Product Profitability.

(Nasdaq:AMNT), a leading national wholesale mortgage banker, is utilizing Hyperion software to manage profitability by gaining a deeper understanding of its product margins and customer profiles.

Hyperion's partner Answerthink (Nasdaq:ANSR) worked with American Mortgage to assist with all elements of the project, including requirements analysis, system design, and implementation. Answerthink's contribution included the design of the analytical system to analyze results, collect quarterly forecasts and provide insight into operational aspects of the business. Answerthink also created executive dashboards that presented managers with a graphical representation of an array of information and key metrics contained in the overall Hyperion software architecture.

AmNet purchased Hyperion's software to extract and manage its financial data, with the goal of better understanding where money was being made and spent. Applications include forecasting and modeling; process efficiency tracking; organizational structure and compensation and position comparisons. With the success of that venture, the company realized it could also use the software to provide its top executives with a view of the data in an easy-to-use format. As a result, the company developed customized dashboards that provide at-a-glance information with drill down capability where needed. These include daily key indicators such as production, finance, human resources and stock price metrics.

In 2004, AmNet took its dashboard capabilities a step further. It began an internal campaign to learn more about its customers by building profiles based on metrics that would indicate which customers and products were most valuable to the company. The insight gained from those dashboards gave the company direction in attracting and maintaining business from targeted customers. Armed with this information on customer value, AmNet was able to train its account executives to be more efficient and to enhance its customer care by developing plans tailored to the needs of each customer category.
