AmCham commitee chairs discuss strategies.
The meeting proved an excellent opportunity to talk about best practices for the management of committees as well as to exchange ideas on how to achieve more member involvement.
Miles G. Bryant III, president of AMERICAN CHAMBER/MEXICO, spoke about the role of committees in developing public positions for the chamber and creating effective advocacy programs before both the Mexican and U.S. governments.
The main speaker was Luis Manuel Guaida, member of the AMCHAM board of directors. As the Chamber's longest-standing committee chair, Guaida--who heads the Human Capital and Labor Affairs Committee--was recently named Dean of the Chamber's committee system.
Also present were AMCHAM'S steering group chairmen: John Smith (chair of the Communications Steering Group); Guillermo Fernandez and Lynch Grattan (co-chairs of the Industry and Management Steering Group). Luis Arriaga, chairman of the Membership Committee, provided a detailed analysis of the role that committee participation plays in member retention.
