AmCOMP Adds Internal Legal Department; Appoints General Counsel.

) today announced that it has appointed George E. Harris George Emrick Harris (January 6, 1827 - March 19, 1911) was a U.S. Representative from Mississippi.

Born in Orange County, North Carolina, Harris moved to Tennessee and thence to Mississippi. He attended the common schools. He studied law.
 as Senior Vice President and General Counsel, a new position for the Company and its affiliates.

Commenting on the appointment, AmCOMP's Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Fred R. Lowe, said: "We are pleased to welcome George to the AmCOMP team. Having expanded our business throughout 5 regions and thirteen core states as well as completing our initial public offering of stock in 2006, it seemed the right time to create an internal legal department headed by the General Counsel position. Once we decided to form our internal legal department, the hiring selection was easy. George knows insurance law, AmCOMP's business and our people. He will be able to seamlessly integrate into our corporate culture and provide the necessary legal guidance we require."

Mr. Harris has practiced law in Palm Beach County, Florida Palm Beach County is a county located in the state of Florida. As of 2007, the county had a population of 1,351,236 according to the University of Florida, Bureau of Economic and Business Research[1].  for 32 years, with an emphasis in corporate, real property, banking and insurance law, primarily representing businesses, financial institutions and insurance companies. For the last 20 years, he has been a principal in the law firm of Harris, Kukey & Helgesen, P.A., in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida Palm Beach Gardens is a city in Palm Beach County in the U.S. state of Florida. The city is in the center of a rapidly-developing area north of West Palm Beach in the northern part of the county and the South Florida metropolitan area. .

Mr. Harris stated: "It would normally be difficult to leave a successful 32 year private law practice. However, because of my first hand knowledge of the quality of the AmCOMP Companies and especially the high quality of the people that I know are behind the Companies, the decision was not a difficult one. I am eagerly looking forward to joining AmCOMP as its General Counsel and chief legal officer."

Mr. Harris is also currently on the Board of Directors of the South Florida Children's Cancer Treatment Foundation and The Tequesta Country Club.
