"Attendees will learn the importance of early identification of Alzheimer's and find out about available services for living successfully with dementia. This is the first year that special breakout sessions will be offered to persons with Alzheimer's disease or related disorders." Ronald Petersen, M.D., Ph.D., Professor of Neurology neurology (n rŏl`əjē, ny –), study of the morphology, physiology, and pathology of the human nervous system. and Professor of Alzheimer's Disease Research at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, will present "The Latest in Alzheimer's Disease and Related Research." He will discuss strategies for developing disease modifying therapies and early diagnostic tools, including modification of clinical criteria, development of biomarkers and new imaging techniques. "Living with Young Onset Alzheimer's Disease" will give conference participants an opportunity to hear directly from people with the disease. Persons diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease at a young age and their care partners will share their perspectives on living with dementia.
