Alvaro goes on trial. (Digest).

The first of a series of four F-100 frigates built at Izar Ferrol shipyards has satisfactorily completed her first sea trials. The 147-metre Alvaro de Bazan, scheduled to be delivered to the Spanish Navy later this year, is to undergo three more trial periods, which should be completed by July 2002. The ship displaces 5800 tonnes, has a maximum speed of 28.5 knots and carries a crew of just over 200. The second of the class, the Almirante Juan de Bourbon, is slated to be launched on 28 February 2002.
