The relocation, which was effective July 1, was approved unanimously by the ACRL membership earlier this year after ACRL director Diran Apelian was named WPI provost.

Shivkumar also has moved from Drexel to WPI, serving as an assistant professor and director of ACRL activities. Staff and equipment are scheduled to be transferred this month to WPI.

Both Apelian and Shivkumar are working towards expanding ACRL and towards establishing a major casting center at WPI.

ACRL is an industry-sponsored laboratory that conducts developmental research in aluminum casting technology. The laboratory, which is supported by 18 companies from the aluminum casting industry, had been at Drexel University since its inception in March 1988.

WPI is the nation's third oldest college of engineering, science and management.

ACRL information is available by contacting Shivkumar at: Department of Mechanical Engineering, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, 100 Institute Rd, Worcester, MA 01609-2280; 508/831-5521; fax 508/831-5483.
