SONE ALUKO has put his Aberdeen career in jeopardy after again defying boss Mark McGhee's order to return to Pittodrie.

The winger insisted he was staying with Nigeria to compete in the World Under-20 Cup finals which kick off next week in Egypt.

The 20-year-old, who left for Nigeria's training camp in Spain without permission earlier this week, said: "I want to play in the World Cup and just want my wish to be respected. I feel good and I'm ready to join the team."

Aluko is set to miss four crucial games for the Donsa and will be fined two weeks' wages on his eventual return.

However, a furious McGhee could opt to put him up for sale.

The manager was already incensed that Aluko suffered an Achilles tendon injury while at a training camp in Majorca with Nigeria. The player was told to return to Aberdeen so his injury could be assessed before deciding if he was fit enough to compete in the finals.

McGhee said: "Sone has still to return here to discuss what has happened. Until he does there is little more to be said.

"We want him to come back and prove his fitness before a decision is made on whether he'll be allowed to go to theWorld Cup."
