Altris Software, Inc. Announces Altris EB Product Plan.

SAN DIEGO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 1998--Altris Software, Inc., ("the Company") (NASDAQ/NMS: ALTSE) a leader in enterprise-wide document management solutions, today announced a revised projected schedule for the roll-out of its Altris EB product.

Testing of the initial release of Altris EB in late 1997 determined that the product did not perform in a manner that the Company considered acceptable for production use. As a result, the product was withdrawn pending further evaluation. A large quality assurance and engineering team from the Company's San Diego and London staffs convened in the United Kingdom to work on analyzing these problems. This led to a determination that certain portions of the product would require re-engineering. The re-engineering effort is now sufficiently advanced that the Company anticipates a re-release of the product later this year based on the following projected schedule:

Preview Release. The Company currently expects to complete a preview release of Altris EB in July 1998. This version of the product would not be offered for use in a production environment, but would instead be made available to certain customers and partners of the Company to allow them to evaluate the product's functionality and to commence the development of applications for use with the product.

Early Ship Program. The Company currently expects to release a version of the product for early shipment in December 1998 for integration into the operating environments of a limited number of Altris customers and partners. The purpose of this limited roll-out would be to confirm that the product is sufficiently robust to withstand current complex operating system environments.

General Availability. The Company is currently projecting that Altris EB would be available for general distribution in the first quarter of 1999. This general release version of the product is expected to serve as a platform for additional functionality and features to be added in the future, including SmartPush technology.

The Company continues to ship, support and enhance its award-winning Pro EDM and TARGET products to its customer base and together with its partners, continues to provide solutions that are proven at numerous customer sites.
