The product, available May 1, is the most complete PC migration solution available and the only migration product to integrate with a full-deployment suite, Altiris eXpress. PC Transplant 3 adds powerful new capabilities, features and support for more migration and rollout options. These enhanced offerings give desktop administrators maximum control and flexibility as they migrate the PCs they manage.

PC Transplant Pro accelerates and simplifies the process of PC migration and rollout by automating the process of transferring user data, Windows operating system and network settings, and settings for key applications to new PCs. The product also supports migration across Microsoft client operating systems, simplifying in-place operating system upgrades. New features in version 3.0 include:

-- Service integration - allows for the automated capture of user settings and
subsequent distribution through software delivery services such as Altiris
eXpress or Microsoft SMS.

-- Enhanced cross-version application migration support - preserves individual
settings as PCs migrate from one application version to another (for example,
from Office 97 to Office 2000).

-- Migration of multiple users/profiles - allows administrators to migrate
personalities for any or all users on any individual PC as well as to
automatically create new users on a target PC.

-- Parsing of INI files for user settings - enables parsing of INI files to
determine the location of resources, such as data files, referenced in the INI
file and then migrating those files, relocating them and the INI file to the
appropriate location on the target PC.

-- Advanced migration for files, directories and file types - allows
administrators to filter out or include files, file types and directories based
on such criteria as date or file size. Additionally, administrators can choose
to place the selected elements in a new location on the target PC.

-- Enhanced package deployment options - allows administrators to adjust
migrations on the fly, both at the time the migration file is created on the
source PC as well as during extraction on the target PC. Ideal for help desk
situations or migrating/restoring the unique user parameters of a single
application.

Unlike other solutions, which offer very little flexibility as administrators migrate applications, PC Transplant Pro gives administrators and even users maximum customization and adaptability. In addition, PC Transplant Pro is compatible with all popular cloning software packages, including Altiris' own RapiDeploy.

These new features make PC migrations much easier and faster. Administrators need only move required personalized user settings, such as passwords, cookies and important user data. With PC Transplant Pro, there is no need to migrate the entire OS and application image just to move these user-specific items.
