Alternative Technology Launches an Agent Program for VARs Looking to Bid on GSA Contracts; Business Solutions for Business Problems Using Technology.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Alternative Technology, a specialty distributor based in Englewood, Colo., this week launched an agent program for VARs looking to bid on GSA (1) (Global mobile Suppliers Association, Sawbridgeworth, U.K., www.gsacom.com) A membership organization of suppliers of GSM products and services. Its goal is to promote GSM as the worldwide mobile communications standard. See GSM Association and GSM.  contracts.

Under the program that was unveiled at the company's partner conference in Broomfield, Colo., Alternative will manage the GSA process and recruit the vendors that will be part of the program. Vendors that have signed up for the GSA program include Alternative Technology's 24/7 One Call Support, Packeteer, Vericept, Eicon, Rajant and BNX BNX Broadcast News Exchange .

The core concept behind the program is for Alternative to leverage its services to bid on contracts that are in turn fulfilled by solution providers.

General Services Administration The General Services Administration (GSA) was established by section 101 of the Federal Property and Administrative Services Act of 1949 (40 U.S.C.A. § 751). The GSA sets policy for and manages government property and records.  (GSA) refers to the agency of the U.S. Federal Government that manages purchasing. When a company applies for and gets onto the GSA Schedule, it means they have been approved as a vendor, and have committed to specific terms and pricing. This simply means that our VAR partners can be protected from "low balling" by beltway bandits Beltway bandit is a term for private companies located in or near Washington, D.C. whose major business is to provide consulting services to the US government. The phrase was originally a mild insult, implying that the companies preyed like bandits on the largesse of the federal  who may try to steal the transaction from the reseller.

In no way does this interfere with VARs that may already have their own GSA schedule.

Alternative Technology's (AT's) GSA program allows vendor partners and VARs to participate on our GSA schedule. AT's primary focus is to capture government and security related opportunities. The program entails working with many VARs across the country that are actively engaged in both the state and local markets as well as VARS that have a value added Value Added

 focus to federal government agencies.

This schedule will allow authorized resellers with state and local customers to procure products off of our GSA schedule. There is a growing segment of our reseller community that can reap the benefits of this program.
