Altera Selects Cypress's High-Performance Video Equalizers for Award-Winning Video Over IP Reference Design.

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- SD/DVB-ASI Video Equalizers Deliver Industry-Leading Cable Length Support and Power Utilization to Altera's Complete System Solution for Broadcast Market

Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE:CY) today announced that version 2.0 of Altera Corporation's award-winning Video Over IP reference design employs Cypress SD/DVB-ASI Video Equalizers. The Altera Video Over IP reference design leverages the CYV270M0101EQ equalizers to provide a complete interface solution to distribute video over Internet protocol (IP) based networks in applications such as video contribution and distribution links, IP broadcast, home networks, and video surveillance and conferencing.

The CYV270M0101EQ equalizers remove inter-symbol interference from video signals traveling over a cable, supporting up to an industry-best 350 meters of cable length. The equalizers offer a power savings of 40 percent over competing solutions, typically an important feature in video systems requiring multiple input SDI links such as production switchers and video routers. The CYV270M0101EQ equalizers are compliant with the Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers (SMPTE) 292M, 344M and 259M data rates. Pin-compatible with existing solutions, the equalizers give users an easy migration path without board re-design.

About Cypress SD/DVB-ASI Video Equalizers

The superior eye diagram characteristics of the CYV270M0101EQ equalizers allow for more forgiving board design, such as longer trace lengths and other less-than-optimal board conditions. The devices support launch amplitudes from 500 mV to 1.2 V at HD rates, allowing equalization to be independent of the transmitter launch amplitude. This independence offers more system design flexibility and can support system and network anomalies without failure to equalize the data.
