Altera Gives Thanks By Walking for Local Charities.

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 22, 2000

Altera Corporation (Nasdaq:ALTR), a leading supplier of programmable logic devices (PLDs), and its employees are giving back to the local communities this holiday season by participating in several fund-raising walks throughout the Bay Area. During the past month, Altera and its employees have participated in walks that support and raise funds for non-profit organizations such as the American Heart Association which supports heart disease research, and local AIDS organizations which provide HIV/AIDS prevention, education, and support services to local communities. Other charitable organizations that Altera and its employees have supported include the Alzheimer's Association, focused on research and prevention methods for Alzheimer's disease, and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation for diabetes research. Altera has donated over $36,000 to these local charities in September and October.

"By participating in these events, we are able to help generate the funds these organizations need to combat heart disease and strokes, AIDS/HIV, Alzhiemer's disease, diabetes, as well as support services for families and existing patients.
